Do you use a store bought ice pack to treat sprains or sore muscles? Ice packs that you find at the store are comprised of chemicals and compounds that can easily thaw and refreeze. A healthier solution will be to make a homemade gel ice pack instead.

Making a homemade gel ice pack is actually really easy to do. In fact, all the ingredients you need may be on a shelf somewhere in your kitchen. All you need is a sealable plastic bag and rubbing alcohol. Some dish soap can be used too, if you want to add a bit of color.

The best thing about a homemade gel ice pack is you can make as many as you need. Just make sure the gel pack sits long enough in the freezer. You will find that the rubbing alcohol will not let the water get fully frozen, so it is more or a gel consistency. Instructions to make your own homemade gel ice pack are on instructables.com here…
